Supporting the Elderly to Enjoy Life in Its Fullness

Kabale Elderly Community's Concern (KECC) was founded out of a desire to showsolidarity with and address the plight of the elderly facing helplessness due to old age, diseases like hypertension,
heart disease, and diabetes amidst economic hardships. KECC aims to meet the psycho-social, medical, economic, hygienic, and skills development needs of the elderly through various interventions. Incorporated in 2021 as a nonprofit organization, KECC serves as a focal point for providing services, programs, and activities for the senior population in Kabale, Rubanda, Kisoro, Kanungu, Rukungiri and beyond.

Our Focus Areas

The organization's 15-year strategic plan (2021-2036) outlines goals and strategies to achieve its mission and vision. KECC hopes to reach 100 elderly people, with an elderly home envisaged to accommodate 35 individuals. The total estimated cost for the program over the 15 years is UG Shs 3,253,910,000/= (equivalent to US$ 914,020)

OUR OBJECTIVES

KECC's objectives are to;
a) Identify the elderly.
b) Analyze their vulnerability state and determine the course of action.
c) Select and provide appropriate intervention to individuals, including physical, social, spiritual, economic, hygienic, healthcare, guidance, and counseling.
d) Train the elderly in simple, appropriate skills for personal management and creativity.
e) Cater for the health needs of the identified elderly.
f) Establish an Elderly Home for the most vulnerable.
g) Establish and manage a Centre for guidance, Counseling, and rehabilitation (the Elderly Home).
h) Carry out Research into possible major factors (social, economic, spiritual, political, and ideological) responsible for the vulnerability of the elderly and others in need of counseling and guidance, and recommend possible appropriate solutions.

OUR LEGAL STATUS

KECC was founded out of a strong desire to show solidarity with older persons who suffer abandonment, chronic illnesses, and extreme economic hardship. The organization now serves as a focal point for elderly services, engagement, and advocacy.
